Kvifor ei bok?
Verk og kunstnarskap i dei fire utstillingane er prega av store investeringar. Kunstnarane spela høgt. Kvar ut-stilling er skarpe utsegn. Presist utforma, med bruk av kresne verkemidlar. Boka samlar alle utstillingane mel-lom permar, eit handterbart format som sant nok ikkje gir verka full rettferd. Verka blei skapt og formulert inn i nokre konkrete rom, sanselege opplevingar i ei gitt tid. Reprodusert som foto og formidla i form av tekst, er dei allereie historie.
Men verka kan, metaforisk, og sjåast som steinar kasta i vatn. Ringane landar i denne boka. Eller snarare: I denne boka gjer vi eit forsøk på å fange inn nokre av rin-gane kunstverka laga i vatnet. Meir kjem ikkje her. Det er desse utstillingane som er satt i spel.

Why a book?
The works and the art in the four exhibitions are the out-come of major investments. These artists play for high stakes. Each exhibition is an incisive statement, con-ceived with precision and the use of carefully selected effects. This book brings all these exhibitions together between two covers, a convenient format even if one that could never do full justice to its subject matter. The works presented here were created for and inserted into specific spaces, to provide specific sensory experiences at a specific time. Reproduced as photos and textual de-scriptions, they have already become history. Metaphorically speaking, however, they can also be seen as stones thrown into water. This book contains the resulting ripples. Or rather, in this book we seek to capture some of the ripples those artworks have made. And nothing more. Here it is the exhibitions that are placed centre stage.
