Opening: Art Academy Masters Degree show 2020
When the museum closed as a result of the covid-19 pandemic, several events and exhibitions were postponed or cancelled. The annual graduation exhibition at the Art Academy in Trondheim (KiT) was one of them. It is therefore with great pleasure that Trondheim Art Museum at long last can present the master's students who graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in the spring of 2020.
The exhibition has been somewhat changed and scaled down due to the postponement. Some of the master’s projects cannot be shown because the exhibition has been moved from the first floor to the second floor. We have therefore let the students themselves choose what they want to show at this year's exhibition. Still, given these limitations, most of the artists have chosen to show their master's project as planned.
This year's exhibition features a wide range of expressions and themes. What characterizes the master exhibitions, and what always makes them exciting to experience, is that everything is completely new! It is the expression of "now". These newly graduated artists show us a cross-section of what is happening on the international art scene, for inspiration and reflection, and we do well to give them our attention. The exhibition is an excellent introduction to contemporary art, and an insight into what is to come.
